Apparently it's World Malbec day! We have something a bit unusual - Casa Don Ángel Malbec a 100% Malbec from Vera De Estenas in Utiel-Requena, Spain. Wonderfully intense with hints of oak and a deep cherry colour. This is Vera De Estenas' second top wine, though it's classed as a table wine due to its being a Malbec and a blend of two vintages - both of which fall outside of DO Utiel-Requena's rules. This is a top quality wine however, and will benefit from being decanted well before drinking.
Athens - Oenorama 2012
Friday, 16 March 2012 19:48
We're in Athens this weekend for the Oenorama wine fair. When we first had the idea for Alizarin Wine, Greek wine was always going to be an important part of what we want to bring to the UK market, and Oenorama is going to be a great snapshot of the state of Greek wine right now.
Currently drinking an Alpha 100% Xinomavro with a 92% Parker score for a very reasonable €15 which is going together very nicely with a bit of local cheese.
Up and running!

So, today our first shipment arrived from Utiel-Requena in Spain (near Valencia) - 6 wines from Chozas Carrascal and 6 from Vera de Estenas, small wineries using natural methods and both with their own unique approaches to winemaking.
